Hello there! I am Yumigahama Kure, the art/graphic intern mod who smashes their head against c4d and Aftereffects until pretty lights come out. I hope to bring some knowledge of VFX and print work from flyers/club promotional work to get with CMYK issues and color balancing for print. Welcome to Villains Rising, a SFW/NSFW zine dedicated to all of the villains featured in the Boku no Hero/My Hero Academia universe. The theme of this project is "The life of a villain living in the shadows of a neon society" with Neon being the central theme you -as the artist, writer, or cosplayer- can incorporate into this zine however you like! The proceeds will be split 50/50 among the contributors and mods, and a charity of choice that will be determined at a later date.

This is a SFW/NSFW Zine for any villain depicted in the Boku no Hero/My Hero Academia universe.

Q. Will minors be allowed to participate in this zine?
Contributors must be 18+ years old minimum to participate in this zine (updated 09/11/21 - please refer to twitter for more updates)
Q. Will there be spoilers in this zine?
There is no guarantee regarding spoilers in this zine. Artists will have the liberty to include recently released content.
Q. Are ships allowed?
Ships will be kept strictly in the NSFW portion, the SFW portion will not depict ships.

Q. What kind of contributors are you looking for, and how will they be selected?
25-30 artists
2-3 merch artists
8-10 writers
5-7 cosplayers
Q. Will traditional artwork be accepted?
Yes, however you must be able to scan it with a minimum of 300dpi.
Q. How many contributors will be accepted?
Contributors will be picked by skill and compatibility with the theme of this zine.
Q. what are the expectations and restrictions of Contributors?
Expectations include; using and communicating through our discord. They are not allowed to share final work during the process or preorder phase, no previous zine experience required
Q. How will Contributors be compensated?
Contributors will receive a portion of half of the entire proceeds, as well as a PDF version of the zine.
Q. Can I apply for more than one position?
While you can apply to more than one category, you will only be selected for one (artist, writer, or cosplayer). However, you can be selected to do SFW, NSFW or both.
Q. Where will the proceeds go?
This zine is 50/50 - for profit and for charity. Half of the proceeds will go back to the contributors and mods, the other half will go towards a charity of choice to be determined.

For SFW Contributors:

The rules for the ART are as follows:
•Canvas must be size A4
•Must have a fully rendered background
•All pieces MUST be in CMYK color profile (anything RBG will print too dark)
•Minimum 300dpi (preferably 500dpi)
•Must follow the general theme.

Rules for Fics are as follows:
•All fics must be between 500-2000 words
•NO fics that can already be found on AO3 or Wattpad
•Must follow the general theme.

Rules for cosplaying are as follows:
•NSFW cosplaying is NOT permitted for this zine (this could cause us to get into some legal issues we do not want to deal with)
•Photos MUST be photoshoot-level quality (no plain old selfies)
•Photos must be size A4
•Must follow the general theme.

For NSFW Contributors:

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE NSFW PORTION - The following themes are NOT permitted for this zine based on popular feedback from the interest check: Rape, Non-con, Incest, Underage (aging up is acceptable as long as its portrayed clearly), Piss or Scat.

The rules for ART in the NSFW portion are as follows:

General Rules:
We are a 50/50 for-profit (half going to charity) SFW physical zine with NSFW PDF, centered around the villains from My Hero Academia and their sinister lives in the shadows of a neon society. This zine will contain:
35-50 contributors (20-30 artists, 8-10 writers, 2-3 merch artists, 5-7 cosplayers) with some being invited to participate as guest contributors.

Our aim is to provide each contributor with a free zine or zine bundle. Regardless, every contributor will be provided a free PDF copy of the zine.

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18+ TO PARTICIPATE - AGE MUST BE SHOWN IN BIO OF SOCIAL MEDIA OR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

You may apply to more than one contributor position (artist, writer, or cosplayer), but you will only be accepted for one position.

NSFW RULES: The following kinks will NOT be allowed in this zine: incest, rape, extreme underage, non-con, piss and scat.

--Submission links that are broken or do not lead directly to a specific sample will not be evaluated and may impact your application.
--Please double check that all google links have link sharing enabled!

Artist Guidelines:
-Portfolio and 3 samples
-AT LEAST one (1) sample MUST be of the MHA Villains
-Completed, colored or illustrated works with rendered backgrounds are preferred.
-Backgrounds must be at least partially rendered, fully rendered backgrounds preferred*
-Must have an understanding of color, anatomy, lighting, composition, and the ability to draw backgrounds, be it simple or complex.
-If you are applying for the NSFW portion of the zine, at least ONE sample must be NSFW

Please only link samples hosted on:
Google docs - please be sure to grant access to your folder/file
Another reliable file sharing/portfolio site (carrd, wix, art station, etc)
Artists interested in applying as a MERCH ARTIST must also include a merch sample in their submission (either a file of the artwork or a picture of the merch itself will be accepted)

Submissions will be evaluated based on a mix of components such as style, composition, coloring, etc.

Writer Guidelines:
-Portfolio and 2 samples (a third is optional)
-Each sample must be between 1000-2000 words
-AT LEAST one (1) sample MUST be of the MHA Villains
-If you are applying for the NSFW portion of the zine, at least ONE sample must be NSFW

Please only link samples hosted on Google docs or another reliable file sharing/portfolio site (such as Ao3 or FF.net)

Submissions will be evaluated based on a mix of components such as flow, grammar/spelling, characterization and description.

Cosplay Guidelines:
-Portfolio and 3 samples
-Submissions that show professional or semi-professional quality with thorough set-ups/backgrounds and use of propsare preferred
-AT LEAST one (1) sample MUST be of an MHA Villain
-If you are applying for the NSFW portion of the zine, at least ONE sample must be NSFW.
-Please only link samples hosted on Google docs or another reliable file sharing/portfolio site (such as carrd)

Submissions will be evaluated based on a mix of components such as style, photoshoot quality, and quality of cosplay itself (such as costume design, wig design, etc).

NOTE: While cosplayers will are permitted to do NSFW content for this zine, full porn is not permitted to avoid certain legalities. Mods will go over the specifics with cosplayers who are accepted for the NSFW portion.
